Thanks to you, and our trail cameras, we have recently identified two amazing tigers in the Datai region of the Bukit Tigapuluh Ecosystem in Sumatra.
That’s two wild lives that you help protect!
As you may already know, every tiger has a unique stripe pattern, which helps us to track them in their forest home. The photos below show one adult male and one adult female, both very important for the future of the species.

One of the most exciting recent discoveries was seeing a female tiger that we had previously recorded in another forest area. She’s now been photographed in the Datai region, which shows that tigers are moving safely between different areas of the forest. You can see her being her wild self in the photo below:
Trail cameras are also showing that tigers are spending more time in areas where more prey is available. Locations with frequent sightings of deer and macaques are hotspots for tiger activity. This tells us that protecting prey species is essential, because when prey thrives, tigers can too!
Recently, we’ve also learned more about when these tigers are active. In the Datai region, tigers are most active between 6:00pm and midnight, with continued movement through the night, until around 6:00am. This extra movement may reflect changing behaviour of tigers, in an attempt to avoid people during the day, or take advantage of prey that is more active after dark.
